Topic: Mechanisms of Pyroptosis in Cardiac Diseases
Guest Editor(s)
Special Issue Introduction
Pyroptosis, a form of programmed cell death driven by inflammatory signaling pathways, has emerged as a critical mechanism in the pathophysiology of various cardiac diseases, including myocardial infarction, atherosclerosis, and heart failure. This Special Issue delves into the cellular and molecular pathways that govern pyroptosis, particularly the role of inflammasomes and caspase activation in promoting inflammation and cell death within cardiac tissue. By addressing how pyroptosis contributes to cardiac dysfunction and disease progression, as well as exploring potential therapeutic targets to inhibit or modulate this pathway, this issue seeks to provide novel insights into mitigating cardiac injury and improving long-term cardiovascular outcomes.
Topics for this call for papers include but are not restricted to:
1. Role of the NLRP3 Inflammasome in Pyroptosis and Cardiac Injury: Molecular Pathways and Therapeutic Targets;
2. Gasdermin-Mediated Pyroptosis: Implications for Inflammation and Cardiomyocyte Death in Heart Disease;
3. Interplay Between Pyroptosis and Other Forms of Cell Death in Cardiac Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury;
