Special Issue Introduction
This Special Issue focuses on the molecular genetics and pathophysiology underlying cystic kidney diseases, characterized by kidney cyst formation that leads to renal dysfunction and progressive kidney failure. These conditions often arise from genetic mutations that alter the morphology and function of primary cilia.
Recent advancements in genomic technologies, such as next-generation sequencing and CRISPR gene editing, have greatly improved our understanding of the genetic factors involved in cystic kidney diseases. This expanding knowledge is vital for developing targeted therapies and improving patient management.
We invite submissions of original research articles, reviews, and clinical studies that explore:
● Genetic mutations associated with cystic kidney diseases;
● Molecular pathways involved in cyst formation and kidney dysfunction;
● Innovative therapeutic approaches targeting these genetic defects;
● Clinical implications of genetic findings for patient outcomes.
By bringing together the latest research in genetics and therapy, this Special Issue aims to advance our understanding and the treatment of cystic kidney diseases.
