Welcome Prof. Gong Cheng from Tsinghua University to the Editorial Board of Microbiome Research Reports
We are delighted to announce that Prof. Gong Cheng, a distinguished expert from the School of Basic Medical Sciences at Tsinghua University, has joined the Editorial Board of Microbiome Research Reports (MRR). His tenure begins in January 2025, with an option for renewal after two years.
Prof. Cheng brings a wealth of expertise and an illustrious career to MRR. He earned his Ph.D. in microbiology from Fudan University in 2008, followed by postdoctoral research in the Department of Infectious Diseases at Yale University. Since joining Tsinghua University in 2011, he has become a tenured professor and doctoral supervisor, while also serving as Vice Dean of the School of Medicine and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.
A highly accomplished scientist, Prof. Cheng has been honored with numerous prestigious accolades, including:
- The “National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars” (National Natural Science Foundation of China),
- The “Young Yangtze River Scholar” (Ministry of Education),
- The First Prize of Natural Science (Beijing Science and Technology Award),
- The Mao Yisheng Beijing Youth Science and Technology Award,
- The C. C. Tan Life Science Innovation Award,
- The VCANBIO Award for Innovations and Breakthroughs in Life Sciences and Medicine,
- The SHUSEN LANJUAN Medical Youth Award.
Prof. Cheng's groundbreaking research focuses on the pathogenesis of arboviral infectious diseases and the development of vaccines. His innovative studies have reshaped the understanding of mosquito-borne viral infections and have laid the foundation for advancing novel medicines and vaccines. With over 40 publications in top-tier international journals, his work stands as a cornerstone in global life sciences, bridging fundamental research and practical applications.
We are confident Prof. Cheng’s insights and leadership will further elevate MRR’s academic quality. His involvement promises to drive interdisciplinary collaboration, enhance the journal’s global reach, and inspire transformative advancements in microbiome research.
