Professor Shujun Zhang has been appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of Microstructures (www.oaepublish.com/microstructures), a new online journal launched by OAE in May 2021.

 Editor-in-Chief   Professor Shujun Zhang

Shujun Zhang serves as a Professor at the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials, Australian Institute for Innovative Materials at the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. He is the Fellow of the IEEE Ultrasonics, Ferroelectric and Frequency Control Society, the Fellow of American Ceramic Society and the future Fellow of Australian Research Council. He was elected AdCom member of IEEE-UFFC (2016-2018). He is the Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE transaction on ultrasonic, ferroelectric and frequency controls, section Editor-in-Chief of Crystal, Associate Editors and an Editorial Board member for many peer-reviewed journals. He has held ten US patents and has co-authored 500+ papers in peer-reviewed journals, with Google Scholar citation>25,000 and H index of 77. He organized many international conferences as the chairman of the organizing committee and delivered more than 100 invited/keynote/plenary presentations at international conferences, industries and academics.

The current research fields of Professor Zhang focus on smart materials and devices, including the dielectric, piezoelectric, flexoelectric and ferroelectric materials, bio-degradable piezoelectrics, bio-integrated and bio-inspired piezoelectric materials, for different applications, such as energy storage and harvesting, piezoelectric sensors and actuators, ultrasonic transducers, solid state cooling, MEMS/NEMS, and non-volatile ferroelectric memory. He is also interested in material properties on nanoscale, property integration and multifunction coupling, new material design, emerging phenomena and applications, focusing on the material design-fabrication-microstructure-property-application relationship.

"We strongly believe that the new journal Microstructures will benefit the communities of physicists, chemists, biologists, and engineers by serving as a platform for the communities to exchange ideas on how to fully take advantage of the visible hand of microstructure for the future development of related fields and disciplines." Professor Zhang stated.

It should be believed that Microstructures will be successful as one of the best-known journals worldwide under the guidance of Professor Zhang. We sincerely extend a warm welcome to Professor Zhang for serving as this new exciting role.
