Chinese Highly Cited Researchers in 2019 Unveiled by Scopus, Elsevier: Eight Experts of OAE Publishing Inc. Selected for the List of "Chinese Highly Cited Researchers 2019"

OAE Publishing Inc. is delighted to announce that 8 of our Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members were listed among the "Chinese Highly Cited Researchers" by academic publishing giant Elsevier on May 7, 2020. The list of "Chinese Highly Cited Researchers 2019" is based on Scopus (www.scopus.com), the world's leading peer-reviewed abstract citation index, which is owned by Elsevier, as the source of statistics. This is the sixth time that Elsevier has published the list of “Chinese Highly Cited Researchers” since their first list in 2015.

In total, 2163 researchers from 242 institutions and 38 disciplines were recognized on the list. These researchers are making outstanding contributions and playing leading roles in their fields. The 8 outstanding researchers among our Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members are: Professor Guang-Wen Cao, Editor-in-Chief of Hepatoma Research; Professor Jia Fan, Associate Editor of Hepatoma Research; Professor Jin-Lin Hou, Associate Editor of Hepatoma Research; Professor Xin-Yuan Guan, Editorial Board Member of Hepatoma Research; Professor Dai-Ming Fan, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment; Professor Li Jin, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Translational Genetics and Genomics; Professor Guo-Yuan Yang, Editorial Board Member of Neuroimmunology and Neuroinflammation; and Professor Yi-Lin Cao, Associate Editor of Plastic and Aesthetic Research.

 Professor Guang-Wen Cao, Editor-in-Chief of Hepatoma Research, Prof. Cao is the chief scientist of National Key Basic Research Program of China, winner of "China's National Natural Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars", and outstanding academic and public health leader in Shanghai. His research interest focuses on cancer evolution and development, cancer-specific prevention and individualized treatment, and other tumor prevention practices, such as carcinogenic mechanism and occurrence of hepatitis B virus (HBV). In 2020, Professor Cao won the second prize of China's National Natural Science Award with the project entitled "New mechanism of hepatitis B virus mutation and immune inheritance in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma".

 Professor Jia Fan, Associate Editor of Hepatoma Research, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dean of Zhongshan Hospital, China as well as the standing Vice Director of Liver Cancer Research Institute. He also serves as Chairman of Oncology Society, Chinese Medical Association, standing director of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, vice chairman of Shanghai Hospital Association, and fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He won the second prize of China's National Science and Technology Progress Award twice and the first prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award twice as the first investigator. He won eight prizes at national and provincial levels as the principal investigator including first prize of China's National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology.

 Professor Jin-Lin Hou, Associate Editor of Hepatoma Research, Professor of the Hepatology Unit and Department of Infectious Diseases, Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, and the Chair of Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) in 2017. Between 1993 and 1994, he received training in the Department of Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, UK. Between 2000 and 2001, Professor Hou was a Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Hepatology, London, UK. He has been invited to deliver talks at international liver conferences many times owing to his expertise in viral hepatitis. Professor Hou has published more than 150 articles in international journals, including Hepatology, Science, Journal of Immunology, and Journal of Clinical Microbiology.

 Professor Xin-Yuan Guan, the Editorial Board Member of Hepatoma Research, Director of cancer research center, University of Hong Kong, Deputy Director of China's National Key Laboratory for Liver Research. He has been engaged in the molecular genetics research of human malignant tumors for more than 20 years. His research interests focus on finding genes, tumor stem cells, and tumor microenvironment related to the occurrence of liver cancer, esophageal cancer, and nasopharyngeal carcinoma. He has published more than 250 academic papers in journals included in SCI, including many articles published in international famous academic journals such as Nature Genetics, Nature Medicine, Cell Stem Cell, and Gastroenterology, which have been cited more than 16,000 times.

 Professor Dai-Ming Fan, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Cancer Metastasis and Treatment, is a foreign academician in the Institute of Medicine of the American National Academies. He is also the Academician and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, former President of the Fourth Military Medical University, a gastroenterology expert in China, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Tumor Biology, an invited professor of the Cheungkong scholars program, and a chief scientist of the China National Basic Research Program (973 Program), China's National High Technology Research and Development Program (863 Program), China's National Programs for Science and Technology Development, Key New Drug Creation and Development Program, and Key Program of the China National Natural Science Foundation. Prof. Dai-Ming Fan has long been engaged in both the clinical and basic research on digestive diseases and malignant tumors, undertaking several groups assigned by the Natural Science Foundation of China.

 Professor Li Jin, Honorary Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Translational Genetics and Genomics, has made seminal contributions to the fields of medical genetics and genetic epidemiology, human population genetics, and computational biology. He has scored spectacular achievements in discipline construction and talent development. In 1999, Prof. Jin was awarded "Changjiang Scholar" (lecture) of Chinese Ministry of Education; in 2002, he was selected by Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology as the chief scientist for "973 Program"; in 2006, he won Chinese "National Outstanding Youth Foundation"; in 2013, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; in 2018, he won Chinese "Tan Jiazhen Award of Life Science Achievements"; and, in 2019, he won the "Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievements" in Human Genome Meeting 2019. Up to now, he has published more than 310 SCI papers in international academic journals, including Nature, Science, PNAS, etc.

 Professor Guo-Yuan Yang, Editorial Board Member of Neuroimmunology and Neuroinflammation, at Med-X Research Institute has studied on the mechanisms of cerebrovascular diseases in both basic and clinical fields for more than 40 years. He and his group currently focus on cerebrovascular network and clinical application of stem cells. In 2017, he became a member of American Academy of Medical Biological Engineering. Moreover, he was the Associate Editor of Stroke and Vascular Neurology (SVN) and the member of Editorial Board of some famous international journals, such as Stroke, Journal of Cerebral blood Flow and Metabolism, Aging and Disease, Frontier Aging Neuroscience, etc. Prof. Yang has edited some professional books, such as Practical Neurosurgical Surgery (Chinese), Translational stroke research, Experimental stroke surgery (Chinese), etc., and has published more than 300 science papers, with total citations exceeding 15,000 times.

 Professor Yi-Lin Cao, Associate Editor of Plastic and Aesthetic Research, is doctoral supervisor and National Model Worker of China. He is now a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Shanghai 9th People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. His major contribution is the creation of cartilage in the shape of human ear in nude mouse, and thus he received James Barrett Brown Award in 1998, and the Maliniac Lecture-excellent honor esteem in 2010. In 2019, Prof. Cao won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award in Chinese Society for Biomaterials Congress and International Symposium on Advanced Biomaterials. Prof. Cao serves as the Directors of National Tissue Engineering Center of China; Shanghai Institute of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; and Shanghai Key Laboratory of Tissue Engineering. He is the specially appointed professor in "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" and a two-term chief scientist of China's National "973" Project.
