Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue focuses on the latest innovations in lung cancer detection, emphasizing novel diagnostic tools, screening strategies, and emerging treatments that are transforming clinical practice. The goal is to bring together expert perspectives and research to enhance the understanding of early lung cancer management and improve patient outcomes.

Minimally invasive techniques are integral to the early detection and management of lung cancer. From diagnostic biopsies to advanced robotic surgeries, these approaches minimize procedural risks and improve patient outcomes. As technology evolves, including artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced imaging, minimally invasive methods are poised to further enhance lung cancer screening and early intervention.

Key Topics Covered: (but not limited to)
1. Advancements in Lung Cancer Screening:
● New screening methods, including 3D Imaging and Virtual Bronchoscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), etc.
The role of AI in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of screening processes.
2. Early Diagnosis Technologies:
● Non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostic approaches, such as liquid biopsy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), and molecular imaging.
Multi-modality diagnostic techniques for improved staging and characterization of early-stage tumors.
3. Minimally Invasive Surgery and Interventional Radiology:
● Innovations in minimally invasive surgical approaches, including robotic-assisted surgery and video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS).
● Role of interventional radiology in staging and treatment, such as ablation techniques and image-guided biopsy.
● Advancements in radiotherapy and its integration with surgery and systemic therapies.
4. Early Detection in High-Risk Populations:
● Screening strategies for populations at high risk, including smokers and those with a family history of lung cancer.
● Identifying gaps in access to screening and treatment in underserved populations.
5. Clinical Trials and Emerging Therapies:
● Updates on ongoing clinical trials exploring novel approaches to lung cancer treatment and early intervention.
6. Outcomes and Quality of Life:
● Assessing patient outcomes after early diagnosis and treatment.
● Quality of life considerations for lung cancer patients undergoing screening, diagnosis, and treatment.

● Long-term surveillance strategies post-treatment for early-stage lung cancer patients.

7. Multidisciplinary Approach to Treatment

8. Challenges and Future Directions
