In September, MIS has been indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), the papers published from 2022 are included in Web of Science.

MIS received the first CiteScore, which is 0.9 in the category of surgery.

In August, MIS was accepted for inclusion in Scopus.
2021
In January, MIS held the first online webinar on Controversies in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery: A Panel Discussion by International Experts.
In March, Prof. Michel Gagner, the world-renowned pioneer of laparoscopic surgery, joined MIS as Honorary Editor after the Editorial Office's interview.
In April, MIS established a partnership with the OpenSourceSearch Association, i-Women Health conference and Innovating through backlogs: The NHS Future of Surgery Conference. In June, the first Editorial Board Meeting of MIS successfully held, which was co-hosted by the Editor-in-Chief Giulio Belli and Honorary Editor-in-Chief Prof. Michel Gagner. Thirty-Three Editorial Board members participated in the meeting.
As of May 2020, the Youth Editorial Board had been established with 35 founding members.
2020
The Editorial Office completed the reconstruction of the Editorial Board by adding 21 new Editors and replacing 15 Editors.
- Prof. Farid Gharazogloo became one of the Associate Editors in January 2020, responsible for the development of the field of thoracic surgery;
- Prof. Igor Palacios from Harvard University became one of the Associate Editors in April 2020, responsible for the development of the field of cardiac surgery;
- Prof. Yuman Fong from City of Hope National Medical Center became one of the Associate Editors in August 2020, responsible for the development of the field of HPB surgery.
- Prof. Riccardo Autorino from VCU Health became one of the Associate Editors in October 2020, responsible for the development of the field of urology.
In November, MIS opened a column of one-on-one interviews with experts and interviewed the following experts:
- Dr. Jean-Francois Rey, President of the 2nd ENDO World Congress;
- Dr. Steven D. Wexner, Vice President of the 2020 Board of Regents of American College of Surgeons.
In November 2020, MIS published its 200th paper.
2019
In March, Prof. Giulio Belli, from General and HepatoPancreatoBiliary Surgery, Loreto Nuovo Hospital, Naples, Italy, was appointed as the new EiC of MIS. Prof. Charles F. Bellows stepped back after two years' service as the founding EiC. We highly appreciate his great contributions to the journal development in the past two years.
In September, MIS cooperated with two international conferences, i.e., "Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery” and “Annual Forum and 1st HTC High Tech Surgery Association World Congress".
2017
Mini-invasive Surgery (MIS) was launched, which released its inaugural issue in April, and was initially published as a continuous journal.
