Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue aims to publish cutting-edge research and the latest advancements in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies for intelligent agriculture. We invite articles that explore, but are not limited to, the following topics:

● Agricultural information-integrated space-air-ground-water remote sensing and monitoring network (satellites, UAVs, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs)) and multi-source data fusion for agricultural applications;

● Autonomous agricultural sensing and control systems, intelligent agricultural equipment, and autonomous systems for agricultural machinery operations;

● Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) and sensing of unmanned robots in agriculture;

● Guidance (path planning), navigation and control of unmanned agricultural robots;

● Bio-inspired swarm intelligence and cooperative control of multi-agent systems in agriculture;

● Soil moisture and crop phenotype detection, hyper-spectral sensing, and quantitative inversion;

● UAVs for spraying or seeding applications in agriculture (fertilization and crop protection);

● UAVs for intelligent agricultural tasks, including nutrient analysis, insect infestation detection, fungal infestation detection, snail infestation mapping, soil quality and compaction mapping, drainage system analysis, and harvest prediction;

● Bionic flying robots in agriculture, including flying robots equipped with soft grasping manipulators;

● UAVs in greenhouse applications.

Keywords

UAVs, guidance, navigation and control, SLAM, swarm intelligence, remote sensing, crop phenotype awareness, crop and/or water stress assessment
