Special Issue Introduction
In recent years, intelligent marine vehicles have been a research hotspot due to their potential for autonomous operations, such as marine search and rescue, submarine laying, marine environmental monitoring, marine resource exploration, autonomous cruising, and maritime surveillance. However, several challenges remain in the theoretical investigation and practical implementation of these vehicles, including environmental awareness, path planning and decision, restricted communication resources, seagoing capability and security, and multi-vehicle cooperation.
This Special Issue aims to address these challenges by featuring cutting-edge studies that advance both the theoretical foundations and engineering applications of intelligent marine vehicles. We seek contributions that push the boundaries of optimal decision-making and control, focusing on novel approaches, innovative techniques and transformative applications. Potential topics include but are not limited to:
● Autonomous path-following control for marine vehicles;
● Cooperative formation control for multiple vehicles;
● Path planning and trajectory optimization for marine vehicles;
● Intelligent guidance and control with advanced techniques;
● Cross-domain collaboration for marine vehicles;
● Clean energy-driven intelligent navigation technologies;
● Deep reinforcement learning in maritime transport mission;
● Dynamic positioning and other advanced techniques in automatic navigation.
