On March 26, 2025, the Editorial Office of Mini-invasive Surgery (MIS, ISSN: 2574-1225) had the honor of interviewing Prof. Ferdinando Agresta, Past President of the Italian Society of Endoscopic Surgery and New Technologies (SICE) and the Section Editor for Emergency and Trauma Surgery in Mini-invasive Surgery.

Prof. Ferdinando Agresta

Prof. Ferdinando Agresta has over 30 years of experience in surgery and currently serves as the Director of General Surgery at Azienda ULSS 2 "Trevigiana" in Italy. He specializes in laparoscopic surgery, particularly in emergency procedures and hernia treatment, and has extensive experience in managing urgent cases of ventral and inguinal hernias. While passionate about laparoscopic techniques, Prof. Agresta maintains a practical approach, emphasizing that open surgery remains the cornerstone of surgical practice.

As a steadfast advocate for laparoscopic surgery, Prof. Agresta is committed to integrating new research findings into daily clinical practice to improve patient outcomes. He stresses the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration among colleagues, which he believes are essential to advancing surgical standards. Prof. Agresta actively engages in research and has collaborated with numerous hospitals and research institutions worldwide. He is a member of prestigious organizations such as the European Hernia Society and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery.
