Dr. Elena–Simina Lakatos is a senior researcher and president at the Institute for Circular Economy and Environment "Ernest Lupan" (IRCEM). Dr. Elena–Simina Lakatos's background is Material Science MEng and also has a Bachelor in Economy, achieving a Ph.D. Degree in Engineering and Management. She is part of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Brussels, Belgium, and Vice-president at the Research Development and Innovation Advisory Council, Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitization, Bucharest, Romania. Her main research topics include Circular Economy with a focus on Social Circular Economy, Circular Cities, Environmental Economics, Urban/Rural Environmental Governance, Carbon Neutral Society, Climate change; Industrial Symbiosis, and Environmental Certification. Her focus is to contribute to accelerating the transition towards circularity using a bottom-up approach with concerted actions, by developing practical and scalable solutions.
