Special Issue Introduction
Authors are invited to submit original research articles, perspectives, and review articles that focus on, but are not limited to:
(1) Understanding the effects, safety, and underlying mechanisms of probiotics and food functional ingredients on different human diseases, emphasizing their regulation of gut microbiota;
(2) Understanding the interaction of probiotics and food functional ingredients with gut microbiota based on in vitro and in vivo models;
(3) Understanding the biotransformation pathways and mechanisms of gut microbiota-mediated metabolism of food functional ingredients, such as phytochemicals and polysaccharides;
(4) Understanding the bioactive gut microbiota metabolites and their health functions of dietary phytochemicals.
