Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue seeks to offer interdisciplinary insights from economics, environmental science, and business management, while highlighting the critical role of sustainability accounting in driving transparent and accountable practices. It provides practical recommendations for businesses and policymakers to effectively address the growing challenges of sustainability within global supply chains, fostering long-term environmental and economic resilience. As organizations worldwide face increasing pressure to meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, the integration of carbon neutrality goals into supply chains has become a central focus. Achieving carbon neutrality while maintaining operational efficiency requires innovative strategies, advanced technologies, and systemic changes across various sectors. This issue explores how ESG-driven approaches can reduce carbon emissions, improve transparency, and promote responsible sourcing practices in global supply chains.

We welcome contributions that employ both quantitative and qualitative, as well as technology-driven solutions, to examine the connections between ESG principles and supply chain sustainability. By bringing together cutting-edge research from management and accounting disciplines, this issue aims to advance our understanding of how businesses and policymakers can collaborate to promote sustainable practices on a global scale. Finally, the goal is to provide actionable insights that can drive positive changes, fostering not only carbon-neutral supply chains, but also more resilient and equitable economies.
