Bio
Dr. Garrido obtained his Ph.D. at UC Davis in Food Science and Technology with a designated emphasis in Biotechnology in 2012. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, where he is also the current Department Chair. His research lines include the study of microbe-microbe interactions in the gut microbiome, using multiomics and computational biology approaches. These tools allow the design of microbial consortia for synbiotic applications, using multiple prebiotics as target. His interests also include synthetic biology tools for sensing and delivering molecules in the gut.
Research Interests
Microbial interactions, Human milk oligosaccharides, Bifidobacterium, Probiotics, Prebiotics, Systems biology, Synthetic biology
