Patrizia Brigidi is a distinguished professor in Fermentation Biotechnology at the University of Bologna, Italy. With a background in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, she has contributed significantly to the field of human intestinal microbiome research. Prof. Brigidi has held various institutional roles, including being a member of the Academic Senate and Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies. Her scientific endeavors, documented in over 250 peer-reviewed papers, focus on understanding the microbiome's role in health, aging, and disease. She has led and participated in numerous European projects, exploring the relationship between diet, lifestyle, diseases, and the microbiome. Prof. Brigidi's work has pioneered insights into the microbiome's impact on human health and has contributed to patents related to microbial strains for therapeutic purposes.
