Prof. Clara G. de los Reyes-Gavilán holds a Ph.D. of Biology from the University of Oviedo, Spain, and completed a postdoctoral stay at INRA, Jouy-en-Josas, France. Serving as a Staff Scientist at the Instituto de Productos Lácteos de Asturias, Spanish National Research Council (IPLA-CSIC) since 1991, she became a Research Professor in 2018. She was Deputy Director of IPLA-CSIC between 2009 and 2012 and Director of this Institute from 2012 to 2016. She was a member of research groups receiving the following awards: accesit to the 100 years award from Carburos Metalicos Spanish Company to the best project for the development of processes and innovative uses of gases and fuels in 1997, Regional Research Award from “Caja Rural de Asturias/Oviedo City Council” in 1998, Grande Covian Fellowship from Fundación Príncipe de Asturias in 2003, and Luis Noé Fernández Award, from Alimerka Foundation, in the Nutrition category in 2014. She has been supervisor of several PhD Students, and have leaded national and international projects as well as contracts with several companies. Her current research interest deals on the intestinal microbiota and the influence of external factors such as diet, cooking habits, lifestyle, and the intake of probiotics and prebiotics on its composition and metabolic activity in different populations groups, focusing specially on the prevention of colorectal cancer development and severe obesity, and in autism spectrum disorder. Dr. de los Reyes-Gavilán is an author or co-author of more than 190 scientific articles included in SCI. This work received more than 10000 citation along time (h index in WOS = 57).
