Dr. Metwaly is a lecturer and post-doctoral researcher at Technical University Munich (TUM). She received her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology in 2019 from the Technical University of Munich (Germany) under the supervision of Prof. Dirk Haller studying the role of gut microbiota in inflammatory bowel diseases. Her research interests are focused on characterizing intestinal microbiomes (the communities of microorganisms, their genomes, and surrounding niches in the gut) to understand their diversity and functions, using computational in silico microbial profiling multi-omics techniques and in vivo mouse models.
