Bio
Dr. Hamish Mackey is a Senior Lecturer Above the Bar at the University of Canterbury New Zealand. Prior to his current role he was a founding faculty member and Head of the Division of Sustainable Development, at Hamad bin Khalifa University. He received his BEng (1st Class Honors) in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand in 2006 before joining MWH New Zealand Ltd as a graduate water and waste engineer where he contributed to local and international projects in wastewater treatment plant design and environmental impact assessment. In 2014 he earned his PhD in Civil Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology before joining HBKU. Dr. Mackey currently undertakes research exploring the environmental impacts and causes associated with water and waste management systems and their optimization, with a particular focus in the areas of resource recovery and environmental biotechnology. He has co-authored over 100 articles, holds one patent, is involved in a number of ongoing funded research projects and successfully mentored over 15 postgraduate students.
