Bio
Dr. Kai Xiao received his Ph.D. degree in hydrogeology from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and then worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Wuhan University. He is currently an assistant professor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). His research interests include surface water-groundwater interactions in coastal zones, carbon/nitrogen source-sink processes in coastal wetlands, hydrological and environmental effects of benthic bioturbations, subsurface hydrological processes in estuaries/lagoons/bays, and offshore water quality evaluation. More than 30 SCI papers have been published in Limnology and Oceanography, Water Resources Research, Geoderma, Journal of Hydrology, Advance in Water Resources, Journal of Geophysical Research, Journal of Hazardous Materials, and other internationally renowned journals in the field of earth and environment science. He was awarded the Visiting Scientist award by the Belle W. Baruch Institute of Marine Research. As the principal, he has presided over eight projects including two National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). As a core member, he has participated in several NSFC projects and the National Key Basic Research Development Program in China. He served as a reviewer in nearly twenty internationally renowned journals such as Limnology and Oceanography, Water Resources Research, Geoderma, Journal of Hydrology, Environmental Pollution, Science of the Total Environment, etc. He served as a review editor in Frontiers in Geochemistry and guest editor in Frontiers in Marine Science.
