Dr. Alexandra Ribeiro, Associate Professor with Habilitation at NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon. She was the director of CENSE–Centre for Environmental and Sustainability Research (2013-17). Alexandra has a Ph.D. in Environ. Eng. (1998) at the Technical University of Denmark, an MSc in Sanitary Eng. (1992), and a BSc in Environ. Eng. (1985), both at FCT NOVA. She teaches and conducts research on Soil and Soil Pollution, and remediation techniques, among other fields. She has been leading international (HORIZON, H2020) and national research projects on electro-based technologies, studying the removal of inorganic and organic contaminants from soil, wastewater, sludge, CCA and creosote-treated wood waste, mine waste, municipal solid waste incinerators fly ash, aiming the valorization of the solids and the liquids (electrolytes), with critical raw materials recovering. The development of new analytical methodologies for the characterization of complex environmentally polluted matrices and monitoring of remediation processes is also one of her team´s aims, targeting forming human resources and exchanging students at all levels.
