Prof. Fei Tao

Dr. Fei Tao is currently a professor at the School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering and serves as the Executive Dean of the International Research Institute for Multidisciplinary Science at Beihang University, Beijing, China. His main research focuses on smart manufacturing and digital twin technologies. He has been the principal investigator (PI) of over 30 national-level science and technology programs and industry projects. He has published seven monographs and over 100 peer-reviewed international journal papers as the first/corresponding author, including publications in renowned journals such as Nature, CIRP Annals, and IEEE/ASME Transactions, of which 30 have been recognized as ESI highly cited papers. His publications have garnered over 30,000 citations in Google Scholar. Dr. Tao's contributions to academia and research have been widely acknowledged. He was elected as the Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars in 2019 and has consistently been acknowledged as Global Highly Cited Researcher in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022. In addition, he was named one of the 20 Most Influential Academics in Smart Manufacturing Magazine of SME in 2021. Notably, He won the China Youth Science and Technology Award in 2017 and the National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second prize, rank first) in 2020. Currently, Dr. Tao holds the position of Associate Editor of Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (RCIM), CIRP Associate Member, and IEEE Senior Member. Furthermore, he founded the publication platform Digital Twin in the Taylor & Francis Group, the Digital Twin Global Forum (DTGF), and the Digital Twin International Conferences (DTIC).

Dr. Ray Y. Zhong (Runyang Zhong) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. His research interests include Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled manufacturing, Big Data Analytics in manufacturing, and Digital Twin for Smart Prefabrication Construction. Ray was in the top 1% researcher worldwide 2020 and 2021 by Clarivate Analytics. He was awarded the Best Associate Editor at the CIRP CMS 2020, 2018 IJPR Best Paper, Best Conference Paper in 15th IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control, New Zealand Chinese Youth Scientist Award (NZCYSA) 2017 and the Young Author Prize in the 15th IFAC/IEEE/IFIP/IFORS Symposium on Information Control Problems in Manufacturing.

Prof. Weidong Li

Prof. Li is currently a full professor at Coventry University in the UK and Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. His main research directions include CNC machining, robot-based intelligent manufacturing, and collaborative robots, among others. Prof. Li has played a pivotal role in research leadership, having chaired more than 30 projects of the British Engineering and Physics Funding Committee, the European Union Framework Program, the British Department of Science and Technology, and industry partners. Notably, he has served as the general coordinator of EU international cooperation projects on two occasions and received the EU Industrial Cooperation Success Case Award twice. In addition to his impressive track record in research project leadership, Prof. Li has chaired the China National Natural Science Foundation of China and several corporate horizontal projects. In the research areas, he has contributed significantly with over 200 research articles published in peer-reviewed international journals and the authorship of five books (Springer and World Scientific Publisher). Recognized for the quality of his work, Prof. Li has been honored with the Best Paper Award of the Year in international journals twice and the Best Paper Award in international conferences on four occasions. Furthermore, he holds the distinguished titles of Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in the United Kingdom, further attesting to his standing as a prominent figure in the field of mechanical engineering and robotics.

Prof. Yuanjun Laili

Prof. Yuanjun Laili currently is an Associate Professor of the School of Automation Science and Electrical Engineering of Beihang University. She has managed 2 National Key Research and Development Program, 1 National Natural Science Foundation Project, and participated 2 National High-Tech Programs and 2 National Natural Science Foundation Project as a key researcher. She has been won the “Young Talent Lift Project” (2016) supported by China Association for Science and Technology and the “Young Simulation Scientist Award” from the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (SCS). She is a Member of SCS and the Secretary of the Commitee of Intelligent Networked Things (CINT) in China Simulation Federation (CSF). Her research interests include intelligent optimization theory and algorithms, modeling and simulation of complex system, robotic disassembly for remanufacturing and online incremental learning.

Prof. Yuchen Liang

School of Mechanical Engineering, Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang, China.


Dr. Yuchen Liang joined Jiangsu University in March 2023 and has been recognized as a Jiangsu Province-appointed Professor and Jinshan Young Distinguished Professor. He is currently actively engaged in research focused on digital twin-driven remanufacturing within Professor Jinzhong Lu’s research group. Before joining his current position in China, Dr. Liang served as a lecturer for three years at Coventry University, UK. He also earned the Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). During his time in the UK, he played a significant role in several research projects while working with Professor Weidong Li. Notably, he made valuable contributions to the CAPP-4-SMEs project coordinated by the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden, leading to the development and global deployment of a CNC scheduling platform. Additionally, he actively participated in the EU Horizon 2020 projects Smarter and Cloud Flow.
