Special Issue Introduction
One Health is a transdisciplinary approach considering the interrelationship between human, animal, and environmental health. Among the vital elements crucial for the survival of both humans and animals, water stands out as a linchpin, intricately woven into environmental processes. However, the current state of water availability and quality is threatened by anthropogenic activities.
This Special Issue is dedicated to providing a comprehensive understanding of: i) the environmental state and source identification of biological, chemical, and physical contaminants in water systems; ii) challenges posed by water contaminants on public health, ecosystems, and economies; iii) emerging mitigation technologies and management strategies to improve water availability and quality; iv) the use of water bodies and effluents in the surveillance of biological, chemical, and physical contaminants and health indicators.
Overall, this Special Issue aims to foster collaborations among experts to address interdisciplinary challenges on water contaminants. It strives to catalyze innovative research on sustainable water management practices within the One Health framework, and ultimately provide practical solutions to communities, stakeholders, and policymakers on how to improve water availability and quality.
