Special Issue Introduction

Polymer adhesives play a crucial role in consumer goods, industrial manufacturing, and medical applications due to their diverse compositions and properties that meet a wide range of demands. However, as market demands evolve and environmental requirements intensify, traditional polymer adhesives face challenges related to versatility, sustainability, and mechanical robustness. Existing adhesives are often designed for specific uses, limiting their adaptability across varying scenarios, and many are derived from non-renewable resources, placing pressure on the environment. In practical applications, numerous adhesives are also plagued by hassles of mechanical failures (e.g., weak adhesion, interfacial debonding and fatigue fracture) in mechanical demanding environments. This Special Issue focuses on the innovative applications of polymer adhesives, aiming to explore novel, sustainable adhesive solutions, showcase their broad potential across various fields, and drive the future development of materials science and industrial applications.

Keywords

Polymer adhesives, sustainable materials, innovative applications, structural adhesives, crosslinked polymers, medical devices, environmental sustainability
