Special Issue Introduction

The global prevalence of hypertension is still on the rise, posing a significant risk factor for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events and imposing substantial economic burdens on individuals and society. The etiology of essential hypertension remains unclear. Recent studies have indicated a close association between hypertension and metabolic disorders such as obesity, hyperglycemia, and high cholesterol, which heighten the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in hypertensive patients. Lifestyle interventions focusing on metabolic health, including rational diet, weight loss, and increased exercise, have become integral in clinical blood pressure management. To delve deeper into the relationship between hypertension and metabolic disorders, we sincerely invite researchers to share their research on "hypertension and metabolic disorders: pathophysiology, clinical management and new treatments". We welcome original studies, reviews, or overviews aimed at elucidating the mechanisms linking metabolic disorders to hypertension and proposing innovative strategies. This Special Issue aims to foster insights into the development of new drugs or therapies and serve as a valuable reference for scientific and clinical researchers.
