Special Issue Introduction

Children represent the future of society, yet their health and development face potential threats from environmental pollution. This Special Issue seeks to delve deeply into the impact of environmental pollutants on children's well-being, with a particular focus on their exposure to contaminants in air, water, food, etc. By doing so, we aim to foster a comprehensive understanding of the challenges impacting children's health. Our goal is to spotlight this pressing issue and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration to further study and effectively respond to child health-related concerns.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:
● Air pollution exposure and respiratory health;
● Water pollution and neurodevelopment;
● Food contamination and growth and development of children;
● Detailed analysis of children's exposure to chemicals through food, emphasizing the potential harm of food contamination to their growth, development, and immune systems;
● Threats from emerging contaminants, focusing on emerging pollutants, paying special attention to children's exposure to plastic particles, drug residues, etc., and exploring the new threats they may pose to children's health;
● Socioeconomic Inequality and Environmental Justice: Investigate focusing on the unequal exposure of children to environmental pollution due to socioeconomic factors, leading to varying health impacts in different social groups.

Our objective is to present extensive research on children's exposure to environmental pollutants and related health effects. By providing robust scientific data, we aim to support global health and environmental initiatives, striving together to create a cleaner and safer environment that ensures every child’s right to a healthy upbringing. We cordially welcome contributions from all scholars and researchers in these fields for publication in this Special Issue.

All submissions MUST consider the implications for human and/or wildlife exposure to contaminants. Please see the Aims and Scope of JEEA for further guidance.
