Topic: Autophagy and Cancer: Current Biology and Drug Development Ⅱ

Autophagy, a vital cellular process involved in the degradation and recycling of damaged components, plays a central role in maintaining cellular homeostasis. In cancer, autophagy is a double-edged sword - either promoting tumor cell survival under stressful conditions or suppressing tumor progression by eliminating dysfunctional cellular components. This Special Issue delves into the multifaceted role of autophagy in cancer biology and therapy. It aims to highlight recent advancements in understanding the molecular mechanisms regulating autophagy and its impact on cancer development, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance.

We invite research articles and reviews that explore topics including, but not limited to:

● Mechanisms of autophagy in cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis;

● Autophagy and the modulation of tumor microenvironmental stress;

● Autophagy as a therapeutic target in cancer treatment;

● Targeting autophagic pathways in combination with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapies;

● Emerging autophagy inhibitors and their potential to overcome drug resistance in cancer;

● Translational research on autophagy biomarkers and therapeutic strategies in clinical cancer treatment.
