Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue aims to deepen our understanding of the complications and side effects associated with cancer treatments, which is crucial for enhancing patient quality of life and ensuring treatment adherence. Cancer itself often leads to a myriad of complications, and effectively preventing and managing these issues is crucial in clinical practice. Furthermore, cancer therapies—such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments—frequently result in adverse effects that can impact multiple organ systems and ultimately compromise patient outcomes.

Understanding the pathophysiology behind these complications and side effects is key to developing effective management strategies that alleviate patient discomfort and minimize long-term complications.

We invite research articles and reviews that explore topics, including but not limited to:

● Mechanisms Underlying Treatment-Related Toxicities: Investigate the biological pathways and mechanisms that cause toxicities across various organ systems.

● Novel Biomarkers for Predicting or Monitoring Side Effects: Explore innovative biomarkers for predicting or monitoring treatment-related side effects, enabling personalized care.

● Approaches for Mitigating Side Effects: Discuss strategies and interventions to reduce side effects in diverse cancer populations, considering factors such as age, gender, and comorbidities.

● Patient-Centered Management Strategies: Review advancements in supportive care innovations and patient-centered approaches to managing side effects.

● Long-Term Side Effects and Survivorship Care: Analyze the long-term consequences of cancer treatments and their implications for survivorship care, including monitoring and rehabilitation strategies.

● Coping Strategies for Cancer-Related Complications: Examine psychological mechanisms and coping strategies employed by patients facing cancer-related complications.

● Emerging Technologies and Strategies: Investigate new technologies and strategies designed to minimize potential risks associated with cancer treatments, focusing on safety and efficacy.

● Risks of New Therapeutics: Assess the potential risks and side effect profiles of novel therapies and drugs, along with their management strategies.

By bringing together the latest research, this Special Issue aims to advance the understanding of cancer-related complications and treatment-associated side effects while promoting personalized, tolerable approaches to cancer care.
