Topic: Novel Therapeutic Targeting Approaches to Cancer Therapy Resistance Mechanism

Therapy resistance presents a significant pharmacological challenge in cancer treatment. Recent insights into the molecular determinants of acquired therapy resistance play a crucial role in understanding the primary causes of genetic evolution and non-genetic adaptive mechanisms. Therapy resistance mechanisms involve a complex interplay of clonal dynamics, tumor microenvironment, and immune surveillance, all of which influence tumor phenotypes. Cancer cells adapt to therapeutic pressure by employing non-genetic mechanisms to evade drug action. The diverse array of resistance mechanisms poses new challenges and necessitates innovative strategies to target these pathways. In this Special Issue, we invite research articles focusing on therapy resistance mechanisms, small molecule inhibitors, and the effects of combination chemotherapeutic drugs on various cancers. 

This Special Issue welcomes contributions on the following sub-topics:

●  Immunotherapy-based strategies for targeting resistant tumors;

●  Cancer stem cells/stem-like cells as targets in resistant tumor treatment;

●  Approaches based on the tumor microenvironment and metabolism for targeting resistant tumors;

●  Small molecule therapeutics for targeting cancer-resistant cells; 

●  Combination therapies for therapy-resistant cancer models.

Through this collection, we aim to foster a deeper understanding of strategies for targeting resistant tumors and to find new approaches to improve patient care.
