Special Issue Introduction

In recent decades, photocatalytic materials have demonstrated substantial research value in various applications, including water splitting, carbon dioxide reduction, hydrogen generation, photooxidation, pollutant degradation, and organic conversion. Despite significant advancements, the application of photocatalysis in the selective synthesis of target compounds, photocatalytic organic conversion, and the efficiency of hydrogen generation from water remains suboptimal. This ongoing challenge continues to attract global interest from chemists and materials scientists. This Special Issue aims to compile high-quality original research articles, commentaries, and viewpoints, with a particular emphasis on the application of photocatalysts in photoinduced organic conversion, water splitting, and environmental remediation.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

● Innovative photocatalyst design, encompassing nanostructured materials, heterojunctions, defect engineering, and advanced photocatalytic composites;

● Photocatalysis for solar fuel production, C1 chemistry, artificial nitrogen fixation, and other solar-to-chemical energy conversion processes;

● Investigations into multifunctional assisted photocatalysis, including piezoelectric photocatalysis, photothermal catalysis, and magnetism, to explore their synergistic effects on performance enhancement and conduct in-depth analyses of the underlying mechanisms;

● Research on photocatalysis to drive advanced oxidation processes for air and water purification, as well as the conversion of waste into valuable resources.

Keywords

Photocatalyst, solar fuels, clean energy, carbon conversion, organic synthesis, pollutant degradation, CO2 reduction, water splitting, photoredox
