Special Issue Introduction

Fundamentals, Materials, and Applications of Batteries encompass a broad spectrum of research and development. At its core, understanding the Fundamentals involves electrochemical processes, including charge/discharge mechanisms and energy storage principles. Materials innovation plays a pivotal role, focusing on electrode materials, electrolytes, and separators to enhance performance, lifespan, and safety. Application-wise, batteries power diverse technologies from portable electronics to electric vehicles and grid-scale energy storage, driving sustainability and energy independence initiatives globally. Advances in battery technology continually push boundaries in efficiency, environmental impact, and cost-effectiveness, shaping the future of renewable energy integration and transportation electrification. This Special Issue invites manuscripts of all types, including Research Articles, Mini-reviews/Reviews, Short communications, Highlights, Perspectives, etc. The topics covered in our publication are extensive, including but not limited to:

● Secondary batteries;

● Fuel cells;

● Supercapacitors;

● Aqueous batteries;

● Energy storage materials.
