Special Issue Introduction

Complex systems are widely present in modern industries, energy, communications, transportation, and other fields, characterized by multi-dimensionality, nonlinear and dynamic behavior. In recent years, the importance of seeking efficient control and optimal strategies has become increasingly prominent. The control and optimization of complex systems must address inherent uncertainties while maintaining efficiency and stability in resource-constrained environments.

From the perspective of control science, event-triggered control has been widely applied in areas such as network control systems, multi-agent system collaborative control, and communication. Its advantage relies on system dynamics and the current triggering moment to calculate the next triggering moment, and has played an important role in reducing control costs, minimizing communication resource consumption, and enhancing system stability.

From an intelligent optimization standpoint, achieving optimal performance in complex environments while adhering to constraints on resources, time, and cost requires advanced optimization techniques. These techniques not only need to search for optimal solutions in a multi-dimensional design space but also handle uncertainties, randomness, and multi-objective requirements.

This Special Issue aims to explore the latest research advancements and practical applications of adaptive event-triggered control and optimization methods in complex systems, driving the field towards more intelligent and efficient directions, and providing new ideas and solutions to meet future control and optimization challenges in complex systems. The scope encompasses theoretical developments and practical applications in domains such as smart grids, complex networks and multi-agent systems.

Potential topics to be covered in this Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

● Adaptive event-triggered control of nonlinear dynamic systems;

● Modeling of complex systems with event-triggering mechanisms;

● Event-triggered control of networked control systems;

● Event-triggered control and its application in game theory;

● Event-triggered control of multi-agent systems;

● Applications of event-triggered control in other control fields;
