Topic: Gut-Brain Axis in Neurodegenerative Disorders

There is growing evidence that an altered gut microbiome, along with perturbations in the gut–brain axis, is implicated in the aetiology and progression of several neurodegenerative disorders, including neuropsychiatric diseases. The role of leaky gut and the involvement of LPS has received significant attention in this area. The interplay of gut neurotransmitters and endocrine signaling molecules with brain metabolomics and the blood-brain barrier has expanded our understanding and tentative interventions. This fascinating area offers ample opportunities to develop new hypotheses and conduct in vitro/in vivo testing. Thus, we welcome both original research and reviews.
