Published on: 20 Jan 2025 Viewed: 19

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Editor-in-Chief, Prof. Stuart Harrad, and all Editorial Board members for their dedication and hard work throughout 2024. Their invaluable contributions have been essential to the journal’s success, and their commitment to maintaining high standards has played a pivotal role in the achievements of the past year. In 2024, JEEA made substantial progress across various fronts:

1. Editorial Board Team

In 2024, we formalized the roles of Associate Editors and welcomed three distinguished scholars to the team: Dr. Da Chen (Jinan University, China), Dr. Maryam Zare Jeddi (RIVM, The Netherlands), and Dr. Giulia Poma (University of Antwerp, Belgium) (Figure 1). In addition, 22 experts joined our Editorial Board, further strengthening its capabilities (Table 1). We also established a Youth Editorial Board comprising 36 early-career researchers in exposure science (Figure 2). The current Editorial Board includes 62 members from 21 countries, with the largest groups coming from China, the USA, the UK, Australia, and Canada (Figure 3).

4. Webinars and Special Interviews

In 2024, we organized an international webinar titled “Exposure and Health Impacts of Indoor Air and Dust and Associated Chemical Substances,” which attracted over 5,000 participants worldwide (Figure 8). The webinar provided an interactive platform for in-depth discussions on the latest trends and advancements in indoor air quality, dust, and related chemicals. We sincerely thank the Chair, Prof. Wenbin Liu (University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China), the speakers, and all participants for contributing to the success of this event. We look forward to inviting more experienced experts and enthusiastic young scholars to share their research in future webinars. For more details, please visit https://www.oaepublish.com/jeea/webinars.

Additionally, we had the honor of interviewing six esteemed experts in the field: Prof. Mohamed Abou-Elwafa Abdallah (UK), Prof. Andrew S. Hursthouse (UK), Dr. Donghai Liang (USA), Dr. Thomas A. Burke (USA), Prof. John W. Cherrie (UK), and Prof. Hongjun Mao (China) (Figure 9). Their valuable insights greatly enriched our journal, offering readers a wealth of knowledge.

5. Promotions

Promoting JEEA at academic conferencess is very important at this stage to enhance its visibility. We are grateful to Prof. Taicheng An for presenting the journalconferences and for his ongoing support of its growth. Additionally, Dr. Cui Guo and Dr. Qingqing Zhu actively promoted the journal at conferences (Figure 10). We deeply appreciate their efforts. Furthermore, we established a collaboration with the International Society of Environmental Scientists (ISES) to feature the journal on their homepage. We value their support and look forward to further in-depth collaboration.

6. Indexing and Excellent Articles

In June 2024, JEEA achieved its first CiteScore of 1.7, ranking in Q3 for "Medicine: Public Health, Environmental and Occupational Health" and "Environmental Sciences (miscellaneous)." This milestone highlights the journal's growth, driven by high-quality open-access publications. With continued effort and collaboration, we are confident that the CiteScore will improve, and our goal is to achieve a Q2 ranking, further enhancing JEEA's competitiveness. The CiteScore Tracker currently stands at 2.7 (Figure 11).
