Anil K. Sood, Professor and Vice Chair for Translational Research in the Departments of Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer Biology and co-director of the Center for RNA Interference and Non-Coding RNA at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also Director of the multi-disciplinary Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program. Prof. Sood co-leads the Ovarian Cancer Moon Shot Program.

Prof. Sood's research group is at the forefront of RNAi therapy, focusing on short-interfering RNA (siRNA) to target "undruggable" cancer types. Their work includes developing safe and effective systemic siRNA delivery methods, with several platforms like chitosan and rHDL currently in clinical trials. The group is also investigating the tumor microenvironment, addressing adaptive resistance to anti-angiogenesis drugs, identifying and targeting novel angiogenesis pathways, studying the roles of platelet and exosome and overcoming immune suppression in ovarian cancers. Additionally, they have made significant advances in understanding the chronic sympathetic nervous system's role in tumor growth, demonstrating its impact on tumor angiogenesis and anoikis resistance, and are exploring neo-innervation mechanisms.

Prof. Sood has received major recognition for his research accomplishments including the Hunter Award, the Margaret Greenfield/Carmel Cohen Excellence in Ovarian Cancer Research Prize, and the GCF/Claudia Cohen Research Foundation Prize for Outstanding Gynecologic Cancer Researcher. He is also an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

The Editorial Office of Extracellular Vesicles and Circulating Nucleic Acids warmly welcomes Prof. Sood to the Editorial Board. His expertise and experience on defining the role of platelets and exosomes in the tumor microenvironment will be a great addition to the Editorial Board. We look forward to the insights and perspectives he will bring to the journal and this field.
