Prof. Wenwu Yu of Southeast University Appointed as the New Editor-in-Chief of Complex Engineering Systems!

We are pleased to announce that Professor Wenwu Yu from Southeast University has been appointed as our new Editor-in-Chief of Complex Engineering Systems. His expertise and vision will undoubtedly steer the journal into a new era of academic excellence.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the previous editorial team for their outstanding contributions. In particular, we sincerely thank the founding Editor-in-Chief, Professor Hamid Reza Karimi, and founding Editors, Professors Kelly Cohen and Quanxin Zhu. Their dedication and hard work have laid a solid foundation for the continued success of Complex Engineering Systems. We are deeply grateful for their service and commitment to excellence.

Editor-in-Chief: Prof. Wenwu Yu

Prof. Wenwu Yu is the chief professor and dean of the School of Mathematics at Southeast University. He is a Yangtze River Scholar, appointed by the Ministry of Education, and serves as the Chief Scientist of the Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He is also a member of the Academic Committee of Southeast University and holds several leadership positions, including

  • Executive Deputy Director of Jiangsu (Southeast University) National Center for Applied Mathematics
  • Executive Director of Jiangsu Provincial Science Research Center of Applied Mathematics
  • Executive Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Networked Swarm Intelligence
  • Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Measurement and Control of Complex Engineering Systems of the Ministry of Education

Prof. Yu has been recognized as a Global Highly Cited Scientist (Engineering) by Clarivate Analytics/formerly Thomson Reuters for ten consecutive years (2014-2023). His research mainly focuses on the intersection of systems science and artificial intelligence, with areas of expertise including analysis, control, optimization, and learning. He has authored over 100 articles in IEEE Transactions and has garnered more than 20,000 citations on Google Scholar, with an SCI H-index of 75 and 30 ESI highly cited papers (top 1% in the discipline).

His research supports the development of emerging industries in artificial intelligence, such as unmanned systems, smart grids, intelligent transportation, big data, and smart cities. Prof. Yu has led the major "New Generation of Artificial Intelligence" project under the National Science and Technology Innovation 2030 of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Additionally, he has overseen key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, the Ministry of Education, provincial basic science centers, and multiple technology initiatives.

Prof. Yu’s achievements have been recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including

  • The Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award
  • Two First Prizes of the Provincial Science and Technology Award/Natural Science Award
  • The First Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the National First-level Society.

The Editorial Board firmly believes that under Professor Yu's leadership, Complex Engineering Systems will achieve new heights in academic quality and promote global collaboration among researchers across various engineering disciplines.
