2021

In January, HR opened a column for displaying articles with video abstracts, and Prof. Giuliano Ramadori, from Gastroenterology and Endocrinology, University Medical Center Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany, was appointed as the Executive Chief Editor.

In February, Prof. Allan Tsung, from the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, United States, and Prof. James Fung, from the University of Hong Kong, State Key Laboratory of Liver Research, Hong Kong, China, were appointed as "Associate Editor".

In March, HR held the first online Editorial Board Webinar.

In May, HR opened a column of Webinars.

In August, HR was indexed in Scopus.

2020

In August, HR launched the "Programme for Young Scholar".

In December, HR held an international seminar on "Systemic Therapy for Cholangiocarcinoma".
Prof. Massimo Colombo, Chairman of the EASL International Liver Foundation, and Prof. Stefano Cascinu, Past President of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology from Italy, attended the seminar.

2019

In March, HR became a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

In December, the Fourth Editorial Board Meeting of HR was held in Wuhan, China, sponsored by the 2019 Chinese Academic Conference on Tumor Biomarker (CCTB) and the 13th Youth Scientists Forum on Tumor Biomarker.

2018

In September, the Third Editorial Board Meeting of HR was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China.

In December, HR launched its newly designed website which had undergone the third overall upgrading since 2015.

2017

In February, Professor Masao Omata, Honorary Professor at the University of Tokyo, was appointed as Honorary Editor-in-Chief.

In June, Prof. Guang-Wen Cao, Chief Scientist of National Key Basic Research Program, was promoted from “Associate Editor” to be the Editor-in-Chief.

In July, a Summit Forum and the Annual Editorial Board Meeting was held in Rongcheng, Shandong Province, China.

In November, the Second Editorial Board Meeting of the journal was held in Nanning, Guangxi Province, China.

2016

In April, the first Editorial Board Meeting of HR was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

In September, Prof. Shu-Kui Qin, Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO), was appointed as Honorary Editor-in-Chief.

2015

Hepatoma Research (HR) was launched, which released its inaugural issue in April, and was initially published as a continuous journal.

In November, Prof. Joseph F. Buell, the Founding Editor-in-Chief, visited the Editorial Office in Xi’an, China.
