Schematic diagram illustrating how mRNA 3’UTR shortening represses its ceRNA partner in trans by releasing the common miRNA(s). 3’UTR shortening of mRNA-X allows its escape from miRNA-mediated repression, therefore increasing mRNA-X expression.
