Figure 1. The mechanism of ferroptosis. Ferroptosis can be initiated by an increase in intracellular iron levels and the accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. It can be induced through the SystemX_c^-/GSH/GPX4 axis, the DHODH/CoQ10 axis, and the FSP1/CoQ10 axis.
