Special Issue Introduction
Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, presenting a significant challenge for healthcare systems. Recent advancements in the treatment of ACS have been transformative, driven by innovations in pharmacotherapy, interventional cardiology, and precision medicine. This Special Issue aims to highlight cutting-edge developments in the diagnosis and treatment of ACS, providing insights into emerging therapies and technologies that are shaping the future of cardiovascular care.
Topics covered in this issue include novel antiplatelet or antithrombotic strategies, the evolving role of dual antiplatelet therapy, and the integration of high-sensitivity biomarkers for early detection. Additionally, we explore advances in percutaneous coronary interventions, such as the use of drug-coated balloons, the treatment of calcified lesions, (treatment of) spontaneous coronary artery dissections, myocardial infarction without obstructive coronary disease (MINOCA), and the use of mechanical cardiac support in high-risk patients.
By bringing together the latest research and expert perspectives, this issue offers a comprehensive overview of the current state and future direction of ACS treatment. It serves as a valuable resource for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving patient outcomes in this critical area of cardiology.
