Special Issue Introduction
As a bridge connecting the physical and digital worlds, the security of Internet of Things (IoT) networks is crucial for safeguarding user privacy, ensuring system stability, and maintaining business continuity. In scenarios such as smart manufacturing, industrial automation, telemedicine and emergency rescue, the timeliness of data transmission is of utmost importance, as delays could lead to severe consequences. Therefore, constructing a secure and efficient IoT network has become a cutting-edge research focus. To address these challenges, we cordially invite original research articles, systematic reviews, and domain-specific studies that showcase the latest breakthroughs, challenges, and future directions in this emerging field of secure and time-sensitive IoT networks. The Special Issue aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and promote the development of innovative, ethically sound, and domain-specific solutions that can enhance the design and development of secure and time-sensitive IoT networks. Submissions should adhere to rigorous scientific and technical standards, including clear problem formulation, reproducible methodology description, thorough evaluation, and meaningful interpretation of results in the context of existing literature and research practices.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Innovations in Security Mechanisms: Explore the application of lightweight encryption algorithms and blockchain technology in IoT data security, along with the design of flexible access control strategies, to achieve end-to-end data encryption, immutability, and traceability.
● Strategies for Timeliness Optimization: Investigate how timeliness-aware queuing management, smart algorithms, and edge computing technologies can collaborate to reduce data transmission delays, enhance system response speeds, and meet the stringent timeliness requirements of smart manufacturing, telemedicine, and other scenarios.
● Comprehensive Evaluation and Testing: Construct simulated or actual test environments to comprehensively assess the security and timeliness of proposed techniques, validating their performance and potential advantages in practical applications.
● Case Studies and Application Explorations: Share successful cases and discuss the practical applications of secure and time-sensitive IoT networks in specific industries or scenarios, offering insights and inspiration for industry development.
Academics, research students and professionals are invited to submit their original work. Extended conference papers are also welcome, provided they have been revised and contain at least 50% new content.
