Topic: Development of Green Manufacturing Technology for Batteries

The battery industry, particularly the lithium-ion battery sector, has witnessed significant growth in recent years. It is reported that the total production capacity of the lithium-ion battery in China has reached over 650GWh in 2022. Looking ahead to 2040 and beyond, the pursuit of a reliable, low-cost, best-performing, and secured value chain is envisioned for battery manufacturing processes.

In this Special Issue, we invite contributions that address the challenges within the battery industry. We encourage studies with a particular focus on cell assembly and manufacturing methodologies, including dry electrode manufacturing. We also welcome investigations into the applications of intelligent manufacturing techniques for battery fabrication, such as Industry 4.0 tools, artificial intelligence, and the creation of the battery manufacturing digital twin.

Additionally, we anticipate contributions on potential manufacturing techniques for the next-generation batteries. These areas include but are not limited to solid electrolytes and/or ionic liquids fabrication, Li-sulfur, Li-silicon, and Li-air systems. We also welcome submissions related to post-Li systems, such as Na-, Mg-, and Zn-based batteries.
