Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue is dedicated to the UKEV2024 Forum, the annual meeting of the United Kingdom Society for Extracellular Vesicles (UKEV). It will highlight cutting-edge research and advancements in the field of extracellular vesicles (EVs), providing a comprehensive overview of the latest developments presented at the conference.

Extracellular vesicles are increasingly recognized for their critical roles in intercellular communication, with significant implications for diagnostics and therapeutics in various diseases. The UKEV2024 Forum serves as a pivotal platform for leading researchers and experts to share novel concepts, technologies, and prospective clinical applications related to EVs. This Special Issue aims to capture the essence of the Forum, disseminating key findings and fostering collaboration within the scientific community.

Scope:
This Special Issue encompasses a wide range of topics related to extracellular vesicles, including but not limited to:
- Molecular mechanisms of EV biogenesis and release;
- EVs in cell-cell communication and signaling pathways;
- Diagnostic and therapeutic potential of EVs;
- Advances in EV isolation and characterization techniques;
- Emerging clinical applications of EVs in various diseases.

The Special Issue will feature:
Conference Abstracts: Summaries of research presented at the UKEV2024 Forum.
Meeting Reports: Highlights and key takeaways from the conference, providing an overview of sessions and discussions.

We additionally invite submissions of the following types of articles for this Special Issue:
Research Articles: Original studies presenting novel findings in the field of EV research.
Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews summarizing current knowledge and future directions in specific areas of EV research.
Video Articles: Short video presentations showcasing conference highlights and the broader implications of the research discussed.
We encourage researchers and attendees of the UKEV2024 Forum to contribute to this Special Issue. The collaboration between the United Kingdom Society for Extracellular Vesicles and EVCNA will significantly enhance the visibility and impact of the conference proceedings, benefiting the entire EV research community.
