Special Issue Introduction
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are emerging as pivotal players in cancer biology. They mediate intercellular communication within the tumor microenvironment and influence key processes such as metabolism, immune response, and therapeutic resistance. By carrying bioactive molecules, including lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, EVs enable dynamic crosstalk between cancer cells and their surroundings, facilitating tumor progression and adaptation.
This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted role of EVs in cancer metabolism and their contributions to the complex interactions within the tumor microenvironment. We welcome contributions that advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying EV-mediated crosstalk, highlight their potential as biomarkers, and investigate novel therapeutic strategies targeting EVs.
The scope includes original research articles, reviews, and cutting-edge methodologies focused on:
The role of EVs in modulating cancer metabolism.
EV-driven communication in the tumor microenvironment.
Therapeutic strategies targeting EV biogenesis, secretion, or uptake.
Emerging technologies for EV isolation, characterization, and functional analysis.
Through this Special Issue, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of current advancements in EV research and inspire innovative approaches to targeting cancer through this promising avenue.
