Special Issue Introduction

This Special Issue centers on the innovative development and application of emerging catalytic materials that are revolutionizing energy conversion systems. With the global energy landscape shifting toward sustainable technologies, the demand for efficient and high-performance energy conversion solutions is more urgent than ever. Catalytic materials, which can accelerate reaction kinetics while improving energy conversion efficiencies, lie at the heart of this transformation. This issue seeks to capture cutting-edge research that explores the synthesis, characterization, and deployment of advanced catalytic materials in various energy conversion technologies.

Key topics of interest include but are not limited to:

● Single-atom and dual-atom catalysts for oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions (ORR/HER) in fuel cells and electrolyzers;

● Oxygen vacancy-rich materials for enhanced cathodic performance in fuel cells and metal-air batteries;

● Nanostructured transition metal compounds and chalcogenides for electrocatalytic processes such as water splitting, nitrogen reduction (N2RR), and CO2 reduction (CO2RR);

● Advanced carbon-based materials, such as graphene-supported catalysts and metal nanohybrids, for hybrid energy devices;

● 3D nanoarchitectured catalysts for robust, high-performance energy conversion systems.

This Special Issue provides a focused platform to showcase breakthroughs in catalytic material design, optimization, and real-world applications, emphasizing the critical role of these materials in achieving next-generation energy technologies.
