Special Issue Introduction

The Special Issue "Frontier Advances in Cathode Materials for Na/K/Zn Batteries" in Energy Materials focuses on the latest research and advancements in developing cathode materials for sodium (Na), potassium (K), and zinc (Zn) batteries. As demand for sustainable and efficient energy storage grows, these alternative battery technologies are emerging as promising candidates to complement and potentially surpass traditional lithium (Li)-ion batteries due to their abundant resources, cost-effectiveness, and enhanced safety.

This Special Issue provides a platform for researchers and industry experts to share innovative approaches in the design, synthesis, and characterization of cathode materials for Na, K, and Zn batteries. We encourage submissions exploring novel material compositions, advanced fabrication techniques, and in-depth performance evaluations. Studies addressing fundamental electrochemical mechanisms, material stability, and scalability are particularly welcome.

Key topics include, but are not limited to:
● Development of high-performance cathode materials with enhanced capacity and cycling stability;
● Innovative synthesis methods for novel cathode materials;
● Structural and compositional optimization to improve electrochemical performance;
● Mechanistic studies on electrochemical processes and degradation pathways;
● Integration of cathode materials into full-cell configurations;
● Comparative analyses with other energy storage technologies;
● Environmental impact and sustainability assessments.

By bringing together diverse studies and perspectives, this Special Issue aims to advance the understanding and application of Na, K, and Zn battery technologies. We invite researchers to submit original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and insightful perspectives that drive progress of this dynamic field.
